This is a fairly meaningless game in terms of excitement and what we really want to see….how the starters perform.  The Broncos took this one in Arizona 28-14 and many backups made a strong case for themselves to stay on the team in the process.

The Packers and their new quarterback visited the Mile High City this week.  Denver had not lost to the Packers in preseason prior to this game but dropped the contest with a final score of 27 – 24.

The Broncos hosted the Dallas Cowboys this past Saturday after a few days of joint practices. Last year, Denver visited Dallas for some training camp action against them prior to their preseason match up in which Dallas took Denver behind the shed for a final score of 31-20.

Broncos Preseason Week 1 Analysis: Denver at Houston

Denver opened up the 2008 preseason with a week 1 match up at the Houston Texans’ house. It was sort of entertaining listening to the announcers constantly reference how many of the Texans players and staff were former Denver Broncos. Ahhh Gary Kubiak, how we miss you in Denver….seriously Denver dropped the contest 16 – 19 in what turned out to be a battle of field goals for the most part.

During training camp this week, rookie running back Ryan Torain went down with what appeared to be a shoulder injury. He was carted off the practice field, clutching his shoulder and upper arm. After determining that he had a broken elbow as a result from an awkward landing, an MRI also revealed some ligament damage to the elbow.

After a few days of Broncos training camp I thought I would give a synopsis of some of the position battles with some notes on how it appears the players are doing. I should note, I am not covering every single player, only the ones that stood out in one way or another so far to me.

With training camp a week away the Denver Broncos have signed 5 of their 2008 draft class with FB Peyton Hillis out of Arkansas being the most recent. Last week the Broncos inked RB Ryan Torain out of Arizona State, DT Carlton Powell out of Virginia Tech and LB Spencer Larsen out of Arizona. In June, Safety Josh Barrett out of Arizona State was the first rookie that was signed.
