Denver’s Rod Smith makes it official

ESPN.com reports that Denver’s Rod Smith is going to officially retire on Thursday.

Smith will hang them up as Denver’s leading receiver of all time after 13 memorable and amazing seasons. He is easily one of the greatest undrafted players to play the game and certainly at his position. Rod was instrumental in Denver’s back to back Super Bowl wins and was always a reliable and favorite target for Elway. I am hoping we can keep him on the coaching staff somehow. Denver signs rookie Jack Williams

Yesterday the Denver Broncos signed rookie defensive back Jack Williams, their 4th round choice out of Kent State. Williams signed a 4 year deal with a signing bonus of $452,000. The rookie will likely have to prove his value on special teams in the 2008 season but will certainly fit into Denver’s long term plans at corner back depending on his progress.
